A new era for DNA testing requires new regulation

Bildtext
The European regulatory landscape is a patchwork, where policymakers and scientists work to harmonize regulations at different levels: international, the EU and in the member states. SIENNA’s Santa Slokenberga is among several experts interviewed by Politico’s Ashleigh Furlong in a recent piece about the “Wild West” of DNA testing in Europe. Santa Slokenberga and the rest of the SIENNA genomics team has looked specifically at the advertising of direct-to-consumer genetic tests. In the article, you can read about SIENNA’s contribution to mapping the regulation on genetics and genomics in Europe. And the ethical frameworks and codes of conduct for this area that you can expect as a result of our work.
