UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE, NETHERLANDS
The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial research university that focuses on technological developments in a social context. The University leads the 4TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology (4TU.Ethics), one of the six Centres of Excellence of the 4TU.Federation. 4TU.Ethics brings together the expertise of the philosophy departments of the four technical universities in the Netherlands (Delft, Eindhoven, Twente, Wageningen) in the field of ethics of science, technology and engineering.
DALIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, CHINA
Dalian University of Technology is a national key university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education of China. Dalian University of Technology is the initiative university of “8TU Center for Ethics and Technology”, a collaboration by scholars in the field of ethics of science and technology from eight key universities of technology in China. The Department of Philosophy of DUT focuses on high-tech ethics, such as robot ethics, nano ethics, bioethics, engineering ethics, etc.
EUROPEAN NETWORK OF RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEES (EUREC), GERMANY
The European Network of Research Ethics Committees (EUREC) is a platform for national networks Research Ethics Committees (RECs) and other ethics bodies in Europe. The network promotes capacity building and assistance for local ethics bodies to cooperate in the EU European Research Area. As an umbrella organization the network interlinks European RECs with other bodies relevant in the field of research involving human participants like the European Commission's ethical review system and the European Medical Association (EMA).
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro is a public institution maintained by the Brazilian government. It is one of the largest universities in Brazil, and a leading university in Latin America. The researchers of UFRJ involved in the SIENNA Project are active within the Faculty of Philosophy (Dra. Maria Clara Dias) and the Faculty of Law (Dr. Marcelo de Araujo). They have extensively researched on topics such as ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of law, human enhancement, and the philosophy of human rights.
HELSINKI FOUNDATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, POLAND
The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights has been a successful advocate of human rights for over 25 years. It was established to promote human rights and the rule of law, as well as to contribute to the development of the open society in Poland. HFHR’s main areas of activity include: observation of and reporting on the developments in the field of human rights in Poland and abroad; engaging in strategic litigation in public interest, advocating for positive changes in national and international laws or practices which violate human rights. Currently HFHR is one of the most experienced and professionally active non-governmental organizations in the field of human rights in Europe.
IONIAN UNIVERSITY, GREECE
The Ionian University has its seat in Corfu. Greece. It is comprised of six Departments which belong to three Schools. The three Schools are the School of Information Science and Informatics, the School of History and Foreign Languages and the School of Music Studies and the Audiovisual Arts. Its six Departments are the Department of Information Science, the Department of Informatics, the Department of History, the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation, the Department of Music Studies, the Department of Audiovisual Arts.
TRILATERAL RESEARCH LTD, UNITED KINGDOM
Trilateral Research Ltd (deputy co-ordinator of SIENNA) is a London-based SME with expertise in ethics, privacy and data protection; data science; crisis management and security; and ICT innovation and standards. Trilateral’s team represents a variety of disciplines: anthropology, economics, law, science & technology, and sociology. Its services include: data and technology services, impact assessments, policy & regulatory advice, research, technology assessment, and training.

The University of Cape Town (UCT) is the second oldest African University and host to the oldest medical school in Sub-Saharan Continent. It is a medium sized research-led institution (about 25000 students, including more than 6500 graduate students). It is consistently ranked highest of the African Universities in global rankings of teaching and research.
UNIVERSITY OF GRANADA, SPAIN
University of Granada was founded in 1531. It has more than 60.000 graduate and postgraduate students, 3.650 teachers and an administrative, technicians and service staff of more than 2.000 people. Nowadays, there are 28 teaching centres with 75 different studies. The International School of Postgraduate offers 68 MSc Degrees, 116 Ph.D. Degrees and 113 complementary courses. One of the main priorities of the University of Granada is the innovation, promoting participation in international projects of legal aspect in security.
UPPSALA UNIVERSITY, SWEDEN
Uppsala University is a complete research university with all faculties represented and education on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.The Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics (CRB) is an inter-faculty centre with researchers from ethics, philosophy, law, economy, medicine, nursing, genetics, and other fields. We have worked and published in the field of biobanks, registries and the ethical and legal aspects of genetics and genomics for two decades.

Trilateral Research (deputy co-ordinator of SIENNA) also has a branch in Ireland, which is a linked third party to the SIENNA project. Their teams collaborate across the technology-social disciplinary divide, being able to assess the impact of emerging technologies to avoid adverse and unwanted consequences while delivering sustainable innovation. Focusing their efforts on areas where the application of their research can make a difference in enhancing societal wellbeing.
